NBN Ready WAN Enabled Routers

There are plenty of routers in the market which can make it confusing to select the right one. The building you are in is part of a state of the art private network and is one of the first buildings with this kind of technology.

Your unit has Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) which means the fibre line is run all the way into your apartment to that black box (ONT) in your wardrobe. The whole building is setup to get 1 Gigabit speeds. So you need a router that will support this and means you are unable to use your old modem that you used for your ADSL connection.

We have selected just a few routers to suite individuals budgets. There are plenty more to choose from in a higher price bracket but these are the basic ones that should not have any issue connecting to the internet and are NBN Ready WAN Enabled.

Please research routers yourself to see where you can get the best deal at your nearest technology retailer

Routers from $50 - $99 estimated cost

These routers are only able to go up to speeds of 300mbps. So once faster speeds are enabled on the network you won’t be able to use these particular routers as they won’t be able to distribute the speed. The wireless signal won’t be as strong on these as well and you may need to purchase Wi-Fi extenders if you are going completely wireless.

TP-Link – 300mbps Wireless N USB VDSL2

D-Link – N300 ADSL2+/VDSL2

Routers from $100-$200 (recommended) estimated cost

Netgear are also a great brand for routers, but need to be configured differently to the above routers.
